Tubular Backwash Filter

Tubular Backwash Filter (also known as Tube Bundle Backwash Filter) is a modular, multi-unit parallel automatic online filtration equipment. It operates with multiple independent filter tubes connected in parallel, enabling offline backwashing of individual tubes while the remaining tubes maintain continuous filtration. The whole process runs automatically without flow interruption, making it the core filtration equipment for industrial working conditions with high flow rates and high impurity loads.

Structural Composition

Main Frame: Modular carbon steel / stainless steel (304/316L) frame, expandable to accommodate 3–24 filter units.

Filter Tubes: Multiple independent vertical filter tubes fitted internally with stainless steel wedge wire screen / woven mesh / sintered mesh filter elements; each tube is individually controllable.

Valve System: Pneumatic or electric ball valves / butterfly valves. Every filter tube is equipped with dedicated inlet, outlet and drain valves to achieve isolation of a single tube.

Backwashing Mechanism: Uses clean fluid from the system itself to backflush filter elements, eliminating the need for an external backwash water supply.

Control System: PLC / microcomputer controller, supporting three activation modes: differential pressure triggering, timed triggering and manual triggering, complete with fault alarm and signal feedback functions.

Working Principle

Normal Filtration Stage:Fluid enters through the main inlet manifold and is evenly distributed to each filter tube. The fluid flows through the filter element from outside to inside, with contaminants trapped on the outer surface of the element. Clean fluid then exits via the main outlet manifold.

Backwash Trigger:When the overall differential pressure reaches the set value (adjustable range: 0.07–0.13 MPa) or the preset cleaning interval expires (adjustable range: 1–24 hours), the control system initiates the single-tube backwash sequence.

Offline Single-Tube Backwashing:The control system sequentially closes the inlet and outlet valves of an individual filter tube and opens its drain valve. Clean fluid from the downstream side flows backward through the filter element from inside to outside to flush off the filter cake, which is discharged along with wastewater through the drain port. Remaining filter tubes maintain continuous filtration during backwashing, ensuring uninterrupted system flow.

Reset Stage:Upon completion of single-tube backwashing, the drain valve closes and the inlet and outlet valves reopen, returning the tube to filtration service. The system cycles through backwashing of all filter tubes until the differential pressure returns to normal levels.

Applicable Standards

Design & Manufacturing: HG/T 21637-1991, SH/T 3411

Flange Standards: GB, HG, ANSI, DIN, GOST

Electrical Control Standards: GB/T 14048.1, GB 50054

Core Features

Modular Design:Multiple filter tubes arranged in parallel; the number of filter units can be expanded according to flow demand, enabling a single unit to handle high-flow working conditions.

Zero Shutdown Backwashing:Individual tubes undergo offline backwashing while the rest keep filtering continuously, without disrupting normal system operation.

High Efficiency & Low Consumption:Single-tube backwashing only takes 10–30 seconds with extremely low fluid consumption (≤0.5% of total flow rate), and no external backwash fluid supply is required.

High Precision & Large Throughput:Filtration precision ranges from 0.5 μm to 500 μm; single unit flow capacity: 2–500 m³/h. Ultra-large flow filtration can be achieved by connecting multiple units in parallel.

High Pressure & Corrosion Resistance:Maximum overall working pressure reaches 4.0 MPa. Stainless steel construction is compatible with complex media including acids, alkalis, oils and various chemical fluids.
