Pneumatic Self-cleaning Filter

Pneumatic self-cleaning filter is an on-line continuous filtration device powered by compressed air. A pneumatic cylinder drives the scraper to reciprocate, mechanically scraping contaminants off the screen surface and discharging waste automatically. The system maintains uninterrupted flow throughout operation without manual disassembly. It is especially suitable for flammable, explosive, humid, dusty and other environments where electric equipment is prohibited, as well as filtration of high-viscosity and scale-prone fluids.

Structural Composition

Filter Housing: Made of carbon steel (Q235) / stainless steel (304/316L), vertical pressure-bearing structure, compatible with pipeline flange connection.

Filter Element: Stainless steel wedge wire screen / woven mesh / sintered mesh, lined with PTFE scraper on inner wall, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant.

Drive System: Double-acting cylinder (standard air supply pressure: 0.4–0.8MPa), controlled by solenoid valve; explosion-proof grade Exd II BT4 optional.

Cleaning Mechanism: Annular scraper / scraping disc, driven by cylinder to reciprocate up and down to scrape contaminants off the inner surface of filter screen.

Blowdown System: Pneumatic ball valve / butterfly valve, interlocked with cylinder to automatically discharge concentrated contaminated liquid.

Control System: PLC / microcomputer controller, supports three trigger modes: differential pressure, timing and manual; equipped with fault alarm and signal feedback function.



Working Principle

Filtration Stage:Fluid enters the housing through the inlet and flows outward through the filter screen from inside to outside. Solid contaminants are trapped on the inner wall of the screen, and purified fluid exits from the outlet.

Cleaning Trigger:When screen clogging causes the inlet-outlet differential pressure to reach the set value (adjustable: 0.05–0.3 MPa), or the preset cleaning cycle expires (adjustable: 1–24 h), the control system activates the cleaning program.

Cleaning & Blowdown Stage:The cylinder drives the scraper to reciprocate up and down along the inner wall of the screen, scraping off attached contaminants and pushing them to the dirt collection cavity at the bottom of the housing. Meanwhile, the pneumatic blowdown valve opens to discharge contaminants with a small volume of fluid. The system maintains normal continuous flow without interruption during cleaning.

Reset Stage:After cleaning is finished, the cylinder resets, the blowdown valve closes, and the filter returns to normal filtration mode.
