Y-type filter

Y-type strainer is an essential coarse filtration device for pipeline systems. Shaped like the letter "Y", it intercepts solid impurities (such as rust, welding slag and gravel) in fluid through its built-in filter screen to protect downstream equipment including pumps, valves and instruments. It is widely applied in pipelines conveying media like water, oil and gas.

Working Principle

Fluid enters the Y-shaped cavity through the inlet and flows through the obliquely installed filter screen. Impurities are trapped and deposited on the inner side of the filter screen, while clean fluid flows out via the outlet. The blowdown end cover can be opened periodically to take out and clean the filter screen for restoration of service performance.
