Candle Filter

Candle Filter is a pressure-driven, closed solid-liquid separation equipment with automatic backblowing and cake discharge function. Its core component is plum-blossom shaped filter candles covered with filter cloth, widely applied for high-precision filtration in chemical, petroleum, food, pharmaceutical and other industries.

Structural Composition

Vessel: Carbon steel / stainless steel (304/316L), pressure-bearing fully enclosed structure.

Filter Candles: Plum-blossom metal framework to support filter cloth and prevent cloth collapse.

Filter Cloth: Materials including PP, PE, PPS, PTFE, which determine filtration precision.

Control System: PLC automatically executes the full cycle: pre-coating, filtration, slag discharge, backblowing and washing.

Auxiliary Components: Air compressor, differential pressure gauge, valves, support frame and other accessories.



Working Principle

Initial Depth Filtration:Materials enter the vessel under a pressure of 0.1–0.6 MPa. Large particles are trapped on the surface of filter cloth, while fine particles penetrate into the pores of filter media and get adsorbed. The initial pressure drop ranges from 0.05–0.2 MPa.

Filter Cake Formation (Surface Filtration):Particles accumulate on the filter cloth to form a filter cake with thickness of 1–5 mm. The cake itself acts as an additional filtering layer, lifting the effective filtration precision from 10 μm up to 1 μm.

Stable Operation & Backblowing:When differential pressure rises to 0.3–0.5 MPa, the feed material inside the vessel is drained. Compressed air at 0.4–0.6 MPa is injected for backblowing to peel off and discharge the filter cake, allowing filter candles to be reused repeatedly.
